When was the last time you saw a business process in an enterprise involving several manual steps to make applications exchange information and to get the job done? It feels like we see this almost on a daily basis, right?

We both decided to start this blog to share some ideas and strategies that worked for us with automating business process using APIs and integration in recent years. We are not only very passionate about APIs and integration, but also have quite a bit of experience in this area helping businesses in Rocky Mountain area and nationally over the last several years!  You could even call us geeks! We want to make all our lives a bit easier with automation and seamless data exchange.

To get started, integration using APIs is all about building the hubs or bridges that connect disparate data points, like applications, mobile devices, Web apps and other components like this.

Most enterprise-grade applications nowadays offer APIs to enable interaction from external components, whether it is for reading or writing data. In other words, if your company is looking to bring on a new application, the first question you need to ask is: do they have APIs to enable the communication?  And if not, re-consider or move on. APIs provide a layer of insurance to ensure data and application integrity by providing streamlined access, and preventing random access of any kind to the application.

With that introduction and brief idea of what we’re trying to do with this blog, we’ll take it easy for the first blog. We’re trying to get a monthly schedule with our blogs going forward, will see how much we can stick to that :-). In the meanwhile, don’t forget to bookmark this page and keep checking back often!
